              It was being held in Yangoon, Burma, from 11 to 16 December 1961. Participated 7 member countries were Burma, Cambodia, Lao, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam with 13 sports; namely athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, football, tennis, shooting, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting and sailing with a total 623 athletes. Most gold medals were won by Burma with 35 gold, 25 silver and 22 bronze ; to be followed by Thailand with 21 gold, 18 silver and 22 bronze.
