         It was being held in Phanompen, Cambodia, in 1963. However, Cambodia withdraw from hosting the Games, stemming from the deteriorate relationships due to the boarder conflict between Cambodia and Thailand over Prasat Preah Vihear. For that matter, the 3rd SEAP Games had to be postponed until 1965 when Malaysia was hosting the Games in 14 sports; namely athletics, badminton, boxing, cycling, football, judo, tennis, shooting, sepaktakraw, swimming, table tennis, volleyball and weightlifting. Participated 7 member countries were Burma, Lao, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam  with a total 963 athletes. Most gold medals were won by Thailand with 38 gold, 33 silver and 35 bronze ; to be followed by Malaysia and Singapore pore respectively.
