            It was being held by Singapore from 1 to 8 September 1973 with a total number of 1,623 athletes in  16 sports, namely athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, football, hockey, judo, sailing, sepaktakraw, shooting, swimming, table tennis, tennis, volleyball and weightlifting. Participated 7 member countries were Burma, Lao, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Most gold were awarded to Thailand with 47 gold, 24 silver and 28 bronze; to be followed by Singapore and Malaysia respectively.
